Rapid Recovery from Trauma and Other Mental Health Problems

Rapid Recovery

Accelerated Recovery Therapy (ART)

Why Should I Train in ART?

A note to therapists from the founder

I believe that ART offers a wonderfully quick cure for PTSD. Is it really a cure? Well, what else would you call an absence of symptoms?

Research is being conducted showing amazing results at the University of South Florida.  The results of the study are soon to be published and then ART will be on its way to become recognized as an evidenced based therapy.

ART gives clinicians revolutionary new tools that enable their clients to eliminate negative images from their brain in a matter of minutes during a single ART session. Only ART’s Voluntary Memory/Image Replacement can do that.  “Keep the Knowledge, Lose the Pain.” Once the distressful images are gone, there is nothing to be triggered to any longer and that is how ART can work so quickly. Getting rid of the Trigger Origin, as I call it, is why another of ART’s slogans is true – “ART Works.” The client remembers the incident as it was in narrative form but loses the symptoms that have attached themselves to those distressing images.

Researchers have been working on an injection and medications that show some promise in helping with PTSD symptoms. But eye movements are easy, don’t have any side effects and can actually completely eliminate the problem in a short amount of time.

Clinicians may come into ART training with skepticism.  Then, during the training, they will say that they are “overwhelmed” as they realize how quickly a brain can accept change with this method.  They experience ART’s healing power for themselves and also practice ART with another trainee. That is when the clinicians begin to sound like I do – enormously enthusiastic about ART. I receive e-mails everyday saying “I love ART. I don’t know what I would do without it.”

I experienced amazement myself when, for example, a thirteen year old who had five to six seizures per day stopped having seizures after a one hour session of ART.  She has had none in the last year because she could eliminate the scene that was causing the seizures.

In another case, after years of sexual abuse, a man was able to finally put his images about his abuse to rest and the anger he had been carrying around then turned to compassion for others in his life. This is a typical outcome for ART. I could go on and on, and – as you’ll discover if you meet me, I often do.

A revolutionary way to approach therapy for PTSD and other mental health issues, ART is unique in its approach. Differing from many other eye movement therapies, ART’s directive approach with specific interventions and a procedural protocol also includes tapping the creativity of both the clinician and the client. Problem solving using dream like metaphors results in quick and amazing results. Children love using this method because of its creativity.

Resolving the presenting problem is like the proverbial peeling of the onion; finally, clients can get beyond their PTSD or other presenting issues, continuing on with the ART therapist to resolve underlying problems they could not access before. And then they can truly move forward with their lives.

Thank you for considering becoming a practitioner of ART. Together we can bring this great relief to more and more of those who are suffering. As I continue to experience success in helping soldiers and veterans, I often think about how ART may lower suicide rates for the military and other populations.  I think about how ART may work in a prison system to lower recidivism and prevent crime, I think about using ART in a school system as a tool for de-escalating issues. I have also thought about using it in the medical field to help reduce anxiety for procedures, a tool which I have had success with in my private practice. For example, children also have lost their fear of going to a dentist. The clinicians trained in ART continue to express a desire to use it in other areas of mental health for other issues that they have thought of because they have seen that ART Works.

I am passionate about seeing ART spread.  Because ART is so quick and so procedural, many individuals that would not ordinarily consider having therapy may try ART.  Children look forward to therapy and find that ART can be fun.  The more clinicians there are possessing ART’s unique tools, the more clients there will be released from their suffering. We look forward to adding you to our network of certified therapists.
